Van Halen are a popular American hard rock band that formed in 1972 at Pasadena, California. Their first debut album named Van Halen, released in 1978, became a huge success with most of its singles topping the Billboard charts. The band members include Eddie Van Halen, Wolfgang Van Halen, David Lee Roth and Alex Van Halen. However, the group has a lot of past members that mainly played the lead vocals such as Sammy Hagar and Gary Cherone. This has made the band controversial making them all the more famous on top of their already amazing talent as they showed it all off during their live performances, concerts, and the like.
Van Halen has sold over 75 million copies of their albums in the global market. They have also attained the most number of single hits on the Billboard Chart for mainstream rock. The band is one of the best selling rock groups of all time, selling more than 56 million albums in United States alone. In fact, they received a diamond for their debut album that hit ten million dollars in sales back in 1996. They got inducted on March 12, 2007 in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The band is still active today with numerous tours during 2007 and 2008 all throughout North America. They recently announced that they would finally release a new album (the last one was more than a decade ago) named A Different Kind of Truth which was finally released on February 7, 2012.
