U2 are a famous Irish rock band that was formed in Dublin, Ireland in 1976. The band members consist of Bono on lead vocals and guitar, The Edge on vocals, guitar, and keyboards, Adam Clayton on Bass Guitar, and Larry Mullen, Jr. on drums and percussion. The group was initially influenced by punk music but they gradually veered toward pop rock and alternative. It is for this very reason why U2 has become truly popular which earned them a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the process.
Their unreserved songwriting abilities that are mainly involved in sociopolitical aspects and intense spiritual essence made them quite controversial and at the same time, irresistible to a lot of people around the world. From being a couple of teenagers trying to be heard in their small school (Mount Temple Comprehensive School), they finally got noticed after four years of continuous playing by Island Records. Their first album Boy was released and this is when they achieved an international fame. However, their live performances, concerts, and their relentless songwriting and musical arrangements continued and it was their second album named The Joshua Tree that took them from “heroes to superstars,” according to the Rolling Stone magazine.
They released a third album in 1991 called Achtung Baby which consisted of a more mature level of songs that was greatly influenced by dance and alternative rock music.
