Led Zeppellin were a British rock band that was formed during the early 60s and was active all through the 70s. The group comprises Jimmy Page on guitars, Robert Plant on lead vocals, John Paul Jones as the bass guitarist and keyboardist and John Bonham on drums. The band is widely famous both in United Kingdom and United States mainly due to their innovative songwriting and genius musical arrangements that are skillfully performed by highly professional and talented instrumentalists, making them one of the most popular and best selling rock bands of all times.

Initially known as the New Yardbirds, in 1968 they agreed a deal with Atlantic Records which gave them freedom in the kind of music that that they want to write and release. This was a good thing too, for the band did not like to release singles. They fervently believed that their songs must only be released as a whole through one album to further maximize the listening experience of their audience. Their first album, containing music that was influenced by heavy guitar rock and blues genre, instantly gave them the reputation of being the founders of heavy metal and rock. However, their succeeding two albums contained songs that were mellow and folk. Their fourth album featured the song “Stairway to Heaven”, the most famous track that they have released. This has made them an internationally acclaimed artist in music history.

Because of this, they have earned a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
