Johnny Cash was an American country singer, actor, songwriter, and author. He is known to be one of the most important musical artists in the 20th century. Although his music is broadly categorised as country music, his songs varied from rock and roll, rhythm and blues, jazz, folk, gospel and rockabilly. Because Cash was able to integrate all these genres into his songs, he was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He has also been included in the Country Music Hall of Fame and Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

Cash was born on February 26, 1932 in Kingsland, a quiet county in Arkansas. His family was religious so he grew up singing gospel music. It was in 1955 when Johnny Cash finally started his path to stardom as he signed a record deal with Sun Records. Johnny was famous for his melodic deep and bass-like voice that could lure anyone into listening to his songs and performances. He is known as the “Man in Black” since his life started out with humble beginnings that drastically changed into fame from which he got overwhelmed. He ended up abusing his earned pleasures, bankrupting him in the process and inexorably leading him into incarceration. In prison, he was famous for giving out free concerts much to the delight of his fellow inmates. Despite his troubled past and difficult experiences, Johnny Cash was still a devout Christian and this has made him strong as he struggled to fight for his life and relationship with his second wife June Carter Cash. In the end, he finally got his redemption. He died an old and happy man of 73 on May 15, 2003.
