Jimi Hendrix was born on November 27, 1942 to the name of James Marshall “Jimi” Hendrix in Seattle, Washington. He was an American singer, songwriter and respected guitarist. His uncanny and amazing guitar talents made his very short three years on the spotlight memorable.

Alongside Eric Clapton, he popularized the “wah wah” guitar effect, becoming an iconic musician in recording history due to his skillful fingers and highly controversial songs that were often nevertheless based in truth.

He first attained his success when he performed live in Monterey Pop Festival in 1967. This was then followed by another live performance in Woodstock Festival in 1969 and Isle of Wight Festival a year after. He was known to show off his talent through carefully adjusting his amplifiers to its maximum ability and match it with high treble and gain. Jimi Hendrix was one of the people who were not afraid to try new things and his pioneer experimentations on rock guitar and recording had earned him a name and a legacy that was followed by many popular artists. Before his death, he has won an impressive number of music awards and has posthumously many more. He has been included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 and in the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005. Hendrix died of accidental drug overdose on September 18, 1970.
