Aretha Franklin or Aretha Louise Franklin is currently the best female artist of all time. She is the first and only one who has ever graced the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 1987. She has a very good reason why she got inducted to this very prestigious hall and why the Rolling Stone considered her to be the 9th greatest artist of all time. Forty-five of her songs are included at the Top 40 of the Billboard Charts while 20 of those have been ranked as the number one on R&B Singles Billboard Chart. Not only that; she also won 18 Grammys, with 2 honoraries, giving her a total of 20 awards.
Aretha Franklin was born on March 25, 1942 in a small house at Memphis, Tennessee. His father was a Baptist minister and it was in the church where she started singing with her beautiful voice at a very early age. She learned the piano all by herself and by the time she was a teenager, she started having solos as her father serviced in the church. This is why she was labeled as the Queen of Soul because she can certainly sing her heart out in any kind of music such as jazz, gospel, blues, rock, and rhythm and blues.
The peak of her career was between the years of ’67 and ’72 creating her own music and versions of I Say a Little Prayer, Ain’t No Way, Call Me, Daydreamin’, and so much more. As her career started to wind down, she finally released an album entitled, Amazing Grace which has become one of the most sought after records for over two decades. It is presently the best gospel music album of all time with more than 2 million sold.
