ABBA were an iconic Swedish band from the 70’s that sang tons of popular pop songs such as Mamma Mia, Ring Ring, Eagle, SOS, Thank You for the Music, etc. Many of their songs have topped the billboard charts, making them legendary in the music industry. ABBA stands for Agnetha Fältskog, Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad. These are the names of the four members of the Swedish pop group sensation. They started in Stockholm at around ’72 and have sold more than 350 million records all over the globe as they relentlessly topped the charts for one decade (from 1972 until 1982). Because of this amazing achievement, they are currently the second best selling music group with the Beatles being the first.

ABBA were also the first pop group that reached and captured the hearts of people that are not from European countries and the United States. They toured these nations, which include Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, the Philippines, and Latin America such as Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, and Peru. They were so popular that they even recorded Spanish versions of their most famous songs, doubling their success in the process.

The group broke up in ’83 but the group has already left a legacy in the entertainment business and this is the reason why a lot of movies and musicals still use some their songs like Muriel’s Wedding, Queen of the Dessert, and the ever so popular Mamma Mia. It was in March 15, 2010 when ABBA was finally included into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
